Hormonal changes can influence many aspects of your health and well-being. At Elevate Health & Wellness in Shelbyville, Indiana, we take an individualized approach to evaluating hormone-related concerns, understanding your symptoms, and exploring treatment options that fit your needs.

Our goal is simple: Help you understand what’s happening in your body and make informed decisions about your health.
Understanding Hormonal Changes
Hormones play an important role in regulating many of your body’s functions, including reproductive health, sexual function, temperature regulation, sleep, and metabolism.
As we age, hormone levels naturally change. For women, these changes often become more noticeable during perimenopause and menopause. Men may also experience a decline in testosterone levels, which can sometimes contribute to changes in sexual function, energy, and physical well-being.
However, not every symptom is caused by a hormone imbalance. Thyroid disorders, nutritional deficiencies, sleep disturbances, medications, and other medical conditions may produce similar symptoms.
That’s why we believe a thorough evaluation is essential before considering hormone therapy.
Signs & Symptoms That May Warrant a Hormone Evaluation
Hormonal changes may be associated with a variety of symptoms
Women may experience:
- Hot flashes and night sweats
- Difficulty falling or staying asleep
- Vaginal dryness or discomfort with intimacy
- Decreased sexual desire
- Changes in menstrual cycles
- Mood changes or irritability
- Difficulty concentrating or brain fog
- Fatigue or reduced energy
- Dry, itchy skin
- Joint pain
Men may experience:
- Reduced libido or changes in sexual function
- Persistent fatigue
- Decreased muscle mass or strength
- Changes in body composition
- Reduced motivation or mood changes
- Difficulty concentrating
- Decreased physical stamina
These symptoms can have multiple causes. A comprehensive evaluation helps determine whether hormonal changes, another health concern, or a combination of factors may be contributing.
Personalized Hormone Therapy Options
At Elevate Health & Wellness, we understand that hormone therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Treatment decisions depend on your symptoms, medical history, laboratory findings, personal preferences, and individual risk factors.
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Bioidentical hormones have the same molecular structure as hormones naturally produced by the human body.
Bioidentical hormone therapy may include estradiol, progesterone, or testosterone when clinically appropriate.
These medications are available in several forms, including FDA-approved products and certain compounded formulations. Bioidentical does not automatically mean safer, and each option has its own benefits, limitations, and risks.
Depending on your needs, available options may include:
Hormone Pellet Therapy
Hormone pellets are small implants placed beneath the skin, typically in the upper buttock area, during an in-office procedure.
Pellets gradually release hormones over time, eliminating the need for daily application or frequent self-administered injections.
Depending on the individualized treatment plan, pellets may provide hormone delivery for several months.
Because the dose cannot be easily adjusted or removed once inserted, pellet therapy requires careful patient selection, counseling, and monitoring. Compounded hormone pellets are not FDA-approved.
Testosterone Injections
Testosterone injections are another option for hormone replacement.
Injections allow providers to individualize dosing and make adjustments based on clinical response and appropriate laboratory monitoring.
We provide instruction and ongoing support for patients who are prescribed injectable therapy.
Topical Hormone Therapy
Topical hormone therapy includes creams, gels, and patches that deliver hormones through the skin.
These options may be appropriate for patients who prefer to avoid injections or implanted pellets.
Dosing, application instructions, and monitoring depend on the specific hormone and formulation prescribed.
Hormone Troches
Troches are specially prepared medications that dissolve inside the mouth.
They may be considered in selected situations when other formulations are not suitable.
Not sure which option is right for you?
You don’t have to decide before your appointment. We’ll review your history, treatment goals, and available options together to determine whether hormone therapy is appropriate and which approach best fits your needs.
What to Expect at Elevate Health & Wellness
We believe you should feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout your care.
Step 1: Schedule Your New Client Consultation
Your first appointment begins with an in-depth discussion about your health.
We’ll review your:
- Current symptoms and primary concerns
- Medical and surgical history
- Prescription medications and supplements
- Previous treatments and relevant lab results
- Lifestyle, sleep, and overall wellness
- Personal health goals
During this appointment, we’ll also obtain a comprehensive laboratory panel tailored to your clinical needs.
Fasting is preferred for certain laboratory measurements but is not required for your initial appointment. If fasting or an early-morning sample is necessary for accurate interpretation, we’ll provide specific instructions or arrange additional testing.
Step 2: Review Your Results & Develop Your Treatment Plan
Approximately 1–2 weeks after your initial consultation, you’ll return to the office for a detailed review of your laboratory findings.
We’ll discuss what your results mean, address any abnormalities, and consider how they relate to your symptoms and overall health.
If hormone therapy is appropriate, we’ll review:
- Recommended treatment options
- Expected benefits and realistic treatment goals
- Potential risks and side effects
- Medication administration and monitoring
- Costs and available membership options
Together, we’ll develop an individualized treatment plan that aligns with your health needs and preferences.
Step 3: Begin Your Personalized Treatment
If you choose to proceed, we’ll provide the education and instructions needed to begin treatment safely.
Depending on your plan, this may involve an in-office procedure, medication administered at home, or a daily topical or oral formulation.
We’ll make sure you understand your prescribed treatment and know what to expect.
Step 4: Ongoing Monitoring & Follow-Up
Hormone therapy requires ongoing evaluation.
Follow-up appointments and laboratory monitoring help us assess your response, identify side effects, and determine whether adjustments are needed.
At Elevate, we believe successful hormone care involves more than prescribing a medication. It requires communication, thoughtful monitoring, and periodic reassessment of your treatment goals.
